1. Ultrasonic Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Roller Shaft

The 42CrMo forged alloy steel roller shaft endures multi-ton alternating dynamic loads.

Conduct ultrasonic flaw detection (UT) annually, concentrating on fillet radius transitions and bearing journals to verify zero micro-fatigue cracks.

The shaft is supported on heavy-duty double-row spherical roller bearings.

Replenish with high-temp extreme-pressure lithium grease (NLGI 2, rated $\ge$ 150°C) every 300 operational hours (150–200g per bearing).

Measure radial internal clearance annually using feeler gauges; replace bearings if play exceeds 0.25 mm.

If surface grooving exceeds 1.5 mm, turn shaft on a heavy lathe; cumulative diameter reduction must not exceed 5% of design spec.
